and happy new year!

I hope you’re looking forward to a 2025 filled with hope and happiness.

If you’re anything like me, then resolutions don’t really work. I’ve tried many in the past - learn guitar, speak better German, work out more - but they’re so vague that they tail off after a while. Does that happen to you?

I’ve found that for something to stick, it has to be measurable. We need to give it a number and be able to count it.

For example - pick up the guitar and play for ten minutes a day. Or phone two German friends each week and speak to them.

The same goes for healthy eating and weight loss. Something like ‘I will lose 1 pound (half a kilo) each week is great start, but how will you do that?

You need a plan. A far better way to start is something like ‘I will eat one high-protein meal every single day’. (Protein is critical for keeping us feeling full and satisfied).

You can choose whether this is breakfast, lunch or dinner (or change every day). It’s not difficult to do, and you’ll be suprised at how good you’ll feel.

And because you’re feeling nice and full, you won’t be tempted to snack on ‘the naughty things’ so often. And so the weight loss starts.

After you’ve started getting into the habit, you could build it up to two meals.
